COVID-19 Vaccine Process!

The Government of India has established the NEGVAC- National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19, which is responsible to provide complete guidance on all the aspects of COVID-19 vaccination. NEGVAC offers suggestions for vaccine selection, vaccine procurement, and inventory management, delivery, and tracking.

It is chaired by Health Member, NITI Aayog and co-chaired by Secretary (H&FW). 

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has developed an online digital platform  ‘CoWIN’ to drive the COVID-19 vaccination program successfully in India. The CoWIN app is completely loaded with full information on the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine stocks at different Covid vaccination centers and tracking of vaccine beneficiaries. All the eligible citizens of India have to first register for COVID-19 vaccination on CoWIN and schedule their vaccination slots at their preferred or nearest vaccination centers.

Steps to register on CoWIN for a COVID-19 vaccine

Register Yourself – Register using Aadhaar no. or Mobile no. or PAN Card or Driving License or any other verified identity document

Select Covid-19 Vaccine Centre – Select your preferred nearby Covid-19 Vaccination Center to get vaccinated

Confirm Your Slot – Book your slot to get vaccinated

Essential information related to the COVID-19 Vaccination drive in India

  • Online registration and appointment has to be done only through the Co-WIN platform
  • Covid-19 Vaccines are available at selected Government and Private Health Facilities, known as COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs)
  • The time interval between two doses of the Covishield vaccine is four to eight weeks and for Covaxin is four to six weeks after the first dose.
  • Maximum 4 people can only be registered for COVID-19 vaccination using the same mobile number. 
  • Download the appointment slip after the appointment has been scheduled on the CoWIN portal and keep it on your smartphone.
  • You cannot cancel the already scheduled appointment. However, you can reschedule it at any other date or time slot of your convenience.
  • Once your appointment is scheduled, you will be provided with the details of the vaccination center, date, and time slot through an SMS on your registered mobile number. 
  • Citizens above 45 years of age can directly walk into COVID vaccination centers. 
  • Citizens aged 18-44 years should mandatorily register and schedule appointments online for themselves.
